About Platinum Roofing — A Family Legacy in Roofing

Robert Shelby is a fourth-generation roofing professional and the founder and CEO of Platinum Roofing, a family-owned roofing contractor based in Alpharetta, Georgia, and serving metro North Atlanta since 2000. Roofing is in the Shelby family’s blood — Robert grew up around the trade and learned it the way the previous three generations did: on the roof, alongside family.

Born in the historic Cabbagetown neighborhood of Atlanta and raised in Austell, Georgia, Robert came up in a family that had worked in roofing for generations. After a brief stint delivering milk for Mayfield Dairy, he returned to the trade he knew best, recognizing that roofing — not the milk route — was where his future was.

In 2000, with the encouragement of his family, Robert founded Platinum Roofing. Over the past two-plus decades he has built it into one of North Georgia’s most trusted roofing companies, with a reputation for honest assessments, clean job sites, and craftsmanship that holds up to the region’s storms.

Robert stays active in the local roofing industry, taking part in contractor round tables and networking directly with manufacturers to keep Platinum Roofing current on the best materials, installation methods, and warranty programs available to North Georgia homeowners and businesses.

Outside of work, Robert married his wife Patti in 2001. Together they have three children — Amy, Dylan, and Alexus — and two golden retrievers, Teddy and Ollie. He’s a devoted University of Georgia football fan, and several family members are part of the Platinum Roofing team today, continuing the family tradition into its next chapter.
